Assalamu alaykum:

We're going to have a great experience in Religion 4 this year, God willing.  I'm excited to be sharing my love of Islam with your children!

For those of you who may wish to know a little bit about my background:  this is my fifth year as a member of the ICB Wayland community.  My daughters have each been enrolled in the program since Kindergarten.  I feel blessed to have found this place I call my spiritual home.

Last year I had the pleasure of teaching 7th Grade Religion as a long-term substitute for two months.  I am also involved with the Vision 2018 initiative as a member of the Curriculum Committee.  I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Islamic History with coursework in Comparative Religion at Harvard, and earned my Master's in Shariah Sciences from the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences under Dr. Taha Jabir al-Alwani (God rest his soul).

While your children will be learning a lot each Sunday, research shows that religious identity and faith commitment are instilled primarily in the home.  I would encourage all of you to talk with your children about what we did in class and try to extend and reinforce those lessons throughout the week.  I will be posting ideas on how this can be done in the Homework section of the website from time to time.

Feel free to reach out to me at Religion4-B@icbwayland.org whenever you need.  I'm available to meet in person most Sunday mornings from 10:15 - 11:15 by advance appointment as well.  I look forward to getting to know each of you!
